Indian Education system :(
Read till end especially if you are a student
The Indian education system wants its students to just continue the practice of rote learning and mugging up answers. They expect the students to just stuff all the possible theorems, tables, rules, definitions, exceptions, etc. The Indian education system is basically testing our memory and not our knowledge. This practice of mugging up and rote learning is going on since the British rule in India.

Its a sad thing that we are still following the old 18th century method of learning. The text-books that we are using are mostly not up to date. They still have their old information in it. Whats the point of learning the old information which is of no use.
India is a country where the government will change the name of a place, a road or be it a railway station within a week. On the contrary if there are any mistakes in the text books they are least bothered. The GDP rate of India as per 2018 was around 7% - 7.4%, and the Indian government is spending less than 3% on education
The Indian government is so keen on ranking India on almost every status that they have just ignored the education system. There are many ways through which a country can prosper and education is one of them. Through this outdated syllabus, students are being judged by his/her memory power. students have no freedom to think creatively or to question the textbook.
As far as I know, no one has come up and asked me about those mathematical sums which I had
learnt in my 7 std. Neither have I been able to use them in my day-today-life. I being an arts student, have never got a chance to dissect any animal, insect or any plant which I had no other option but to remember in my 8, 9 or 10 grades. Those chemical reactions and their names along with all the balancing equations that I was taught in my previous grades are of no use to me today. I have used them as my social media account password. I don't know why we were taught all those things when they were of no use.
The only smart and wise decision I remember was opting for general math instead of regular math, because I had made up my mind about pursuing Arts after 10 grade.
I wish we had similar options for science as well. Another bitter truth is we are not being given practical knowledge. We just have to sit for our lectures, try to grasp whatever we can and then during exams we ought to vomit out whatever the question paper wants us to. Shockingly most of the times our English answer sheets are handed over to few Marathi teachers, few to Science teachers.
The same happens to our other subject answer sheets as well. All thanks to the Mumbai University. They just provide these teachers with an answer key. So all they have to do is just check if the answer matches to the answer key.
The pressure of getting very good marks in-order to rank the best among the batchmates has increased so much that students end up giving up their life. Various movies have been made depicting the struggles faced by students. It's high time now to stop the traditional old way of learning which dates back to the 18 century, and maybe that's the reason some of the famous and well established youtubers like Ranveer Allahbadia and Bhuvan Bam have made a video on thier youtube channel regarding the indian education system

Big disagreement with the point that said we learnt stuff that wasn't useful. People will not know if they want to pursue a career in science if they never experience it. It being compulsory upto10th grade is a pretty good decision if you ask me .Also, math is more than just formulas, it teaches logic and reasoning, something most people lack (lol). But it is true about stuff being outdated. Just homeschool or drop-out if you want to do it differently.
